If you didn't know, life is full of stress. I have mentioned before that you are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or headed into a storm. We live in a broken and fallen world and things are going to happen - to the just and the unjust. Sometimes it seems as if we can't get through one thing before another crops up. There will be storms.
If you allow yourself to worry about every little thing, and it is easy to do, it will drive you crazy. There are a lot of things that I am concerned about: my family, our finances, my children's future, the health of loved ones, the needs of others, the state of this world, retirement...lots of concerns. So, how do you not allow it to consume you? I am glad you asked.
Today's word is Isaiah 26:3, NLT, which reads, "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!"
If we will keep our minds on GOD and on doing what He wants us to do, we will find peace in knowing that we are doing His will and His will is working for our good to prosper us and bring us to a good end. Yeah, there will be those times of doubt and wonder and exhaustion and stress but we can rest in perfect peace knowing that GOD has it in control. Easier said than done, huh?
I am going to work on doing exactly as this verse describes. You have to flip the two halves around: "All whose thoughts are fixed on YOU, YOU will keep in perfect peace..." It is when we allow this world to take a broader focus than our GOD that we become more and more stressed; I'm as guilty as anyone. I am going to try to focus on GOD and on doing His will. I bet I will find that things still happen, that life is still fraught with stresses. Yet, I bet I'll also find that there are lots of things to be concerned about but nothing to worry about.
Be Blessed,
Mickey T
