Old Stuff New Again

Have you ever done any restoration projects? It seems that we own a lot of stuff that needs restoring, and I have had the opportunity to try my hand at it on several occasions. I won't even try to admit to being very good at it, I'm not. But, there is something to be said about taking a piece that has been battered and worn and making it useful again.

We have an old table that sits in our dining room holding a microwave and a coffee maker. The table was handed down to Trish and me from my Mom, who had received it from her Mom, and no telling how long my Grandma had had it, or if it may have been handed down to her from her Mom. But, through the years, that old table has been used, and has looked battered and worn many times. And, it has been taken out, cleaned up, freshly painted, everything tightened up, and back into use.

Today's word is Lamentations 5:21, NLT, which reads, "Restore us, O LORD, and bring us back to You again! Give us back the joys we once had!"

Like that old table of ours, many times in life we find ourselves battered and worn from the everyday existence in this world. This world can beat you down and wear you out and leave you feeling useless. BUT, GOD is in the restoration business. He wants us to call out to Him, to draw near to Him, to allow Him to clean us up, brighten us up, tighten us up. He wants to restore to us the joys we once had.

Life can hard. Life can be tiring. Life can take more from us than we could ever imagine. Life can steal our joys. BUT, GOD can give it all back. Just like our old table, there is usefulness in us all. We just have to be willing to do some restoration.

Be Blessed,
Mickey T
