Do Not Consent

Some advice is so simple, so easy, so obvious that we think it can't possibly be good advice. Like when we were younger and our parents would say, "Don't touch that, it is hot." We could have listened and not touched it, but, we had to see for ourselves. And, guess what? We learned what "Hot" meant. Same goes for "Wet Paint"; folks will touch it just to see if it is still wet. Obvious.

I have been given a lot of advice in my life, some pretty simple, some not. Some advice worth listening to, some not. Some advice meant for my good, some for my demise, or at least for someone else's pleasure. We do have to filter the advice we receive to see what the person telling us has at heart. But, today, I want to share with you some really simple advice...

Today's word is Proverbs 1:10, NASB, which reads, "My son, if sinners entice you, DO NOT CONSENT."

The emphasis, of course, is mine. But, the message found in today's word is very simple - don't allow sinners to entice you to sin. It is obvious, right? Yet, I have had times in my life when I didn't listen to this advice. I have had times in my life when I allowed others to influence me to do things that I certainly would not have done on my own. Simple, obvious advice, yet, not followed.

There will always be those in this world that want to see you fail. There will always be those in this world that will set the trap for our failures. There will always be those that try to entice us to do things that we ought not to do. I am going to try to remember the simple advice - DO NOT CONSENT.

Be Blessed,
Mickey T
