Receive mercy

I heard a saying many years ago that goes, "The only time you should ever lie is to keep yourself out of trouble." Seems reasonable, right? But, there really isn't a good reason to lie. Oh, don't get me wrong, I have told many lies, MANY. Not bragging, confessing.

It seems that the more we lie, the more we have to lie. The more we tell a story to try to get out of trouble, the bigger the story has to get in order to make it believable. Then, as for me, I usually always slip up somewhere and have to confess that I lied. Yeah, even though I still find myself telling one from time to time, the truth is that lying will get you nowhere.

Today's word is a good reminder about taking responsibility for our actions and words. Proverbs 28:13, NLT, reads, "People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they will confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy."

We can all try to conceal our sins but sooner or later it usually always comes out. And, even if we are able to fool those around us, GOD always knows. And, today's word reminds us that trying to conceal our sins will not prosper us. Even if we sort of get away with it, it will eat at us on the inside and make us miserable.

BUT, if we will confess our sins and turn from them, we will receive mercy. We are all going to mess up from time to time. We are all going to drop the ball, make an error, run amok. But, if we will confess it and turn from it we will receive mercy.

Be Blessed,
Mickey T
