Forgiveness can be hard. Not for JESUS; He died in order to allow us to live. He loves to forgive us. But, for us, or, especially for me, forgiveness can be really hard. And, not that I can't forgive others; I sometimes find it very difficult to forgive myself.
If forgiving yourself is not a problem for you, good for you. I have found it difficult at times to fully forgive myself. I have probably shared with you before that I don't like to fail. Yes, failure is a part of life, it helps us develop character, it teaches us invaluable lessons, and I am okay with failing. I hate when I fail GOD. And, when I do fail Him, I can really find it hard to forgive myself.
Today's word is a quote about forgiveness: Never be a prisoner of your past. It was just a lesson, not a life sentence.
It is absolutely true that we can hold on to things way longer than we should. Holding on to those sins, those failures rob us of the true joys of today. Holding on to those failures and beating ourselves up over them again and again sets us up to fail even worse the next time. We have to ask forgiveness and not do it again.
We are all going to fail. We are all going to mess it up. We are all going to let others down. We are all going to let ourselves down. But, failure does not have to be final. Failure is a part of life, but, failure should not define our lives.
Be Blessed,
Mickey T
